We were replacing an old rotten timber deck which was unsafe. The clients wanted the low maintenance offered by composite decking combined with the Trex 25 Year Warranty. This decking can be cleaned with a sponge mop and a standard sprinkler hose, no heavy pressure washing or sanding oiling required with this composite decking.

The colour was to be as natural in appearance as possible so the clients selected Toasted Sand Decking from the Trex Enhance Naturals range. With composite decking installed in Wimbledon SW19, sometimes the houses themselves and the mature gardens are the focus, so modern colours may detract from the abundant natural beauty. In this case a more muted approach was desired to allow the focus to continue to be on the foliage of the garden itself. Enhance Naturals are the mid-range product line from Trex, with 4 colours available. It was installed with Trex Hideaway Hidden Fixings throughout the body of the deck, which is made up of grooved decking boards. For a smooth finish the exterior, or picture frame, of this decking build is solid decking deckings which are installed with colour matched screws.

There is one access panel which is removable to provide the ability to clear the drains if needed. One step was installed to bridge the height gap to the rear doors.

This was a fairly small job and was completed quickly. The framing is from Jacksons Fencing and taped with Trex Protect Joist tape to provide the ultimate protection from the three main enemies of timber decking frames: both water damage, insect attack, and rot. The choice of premium Jacksons Fencing Deck Joists come with their own 25 Year Jakcure Guarantee. The Joist Tape protects the most vulnerable part of any timber decking frame which is the tops of the joists.
